“Happy Thanksgiving Day” to all my new and old friends and family

Life is difficult on everyone and people look for reasons to celebrate life. Similar to life all the festivals   we enjoy have evolved with time. Additionally, with interexchange of cultures all over the world people blend and celebrate life together. Like today is “Thanksgiving Day”.
In my last profile of working as a BDM I had a lot opportunity for cross culture exchange. I found each and every meeting with a client as a new experience. I came to know thousands of things I could have never got to know if would not have had such a conversation with them.
I still remember my meeting with Mc Chan and Thiman Chuong from DLC they were senior associates from building and creative team of DLC Pvt Ltd. Out of the two I got more comfortable with Thiman.  He is outspoken and enjoys wide conversations. After discussing business  we were on our drinks and getting to know each other well when he became a bit nostalgic about his family and started linking his childhood memories and explained a lot many things they do in US as festivity like Christmas, Black friday , Thanksgiving Day etc.
Just out of curiosity Thanksgiving Day is observed on fourth Thursday of November to celebrate the harvest for the current season. As in US too people have moved from villages to cities so their motives of celebration have changed. I know there are too many controversies running about the first thanks giving feast started however in my eyes it is more important to focus on the reason to celebrate the happiness one still has while feasting with family and friends.
So “Happy Thanksgiving Day” to all my new and old friends and family.

KRA and Appraisal for MIS executive

In any MNC reports play an essential role in decision making process. In day to day work employees maintain everyone’s record of daily task and productivity. It depends on the size of organization about the decision that if the resource number is   less it better dealt manually and if the numbers are huge then its leads to automated system.
In lay man language-
If I can eat 1 apple a day at Rs 1 and it cost me Rs 10 to travel to buy that for me so it is a waste of time and money if I daily get 1 apple and pay Rs 10 as fare each time. So, it is better if I get 9 apples every Sunday. If you simply view taking care of chances I am just getting two apples extra in every purchase just to avoid the cost of going to the market and buying those to apple each time I require in case the apple is not good or I wish to have extra consumption. Now if you see with an MIS eye

Now if the reports generated from automated systems and viewed, it will only fetch you generalized data and the high level management (AVP, VP etc) do not have the requisite required to do the arranging of data as it will be a waste of time for them. This is so because if they waste their time on converting this data into useful information then they will not have enough time take action over the information gathered from these reports. So here comes the role of an MIS executive.
KRA's of an MIS executive:
Every organization has own need and system of reporting. For an MIS who switches over different companies the data base platform may vary but the output of all the maximum report remains constant focus over quality, production, resource management and cost analysis.
1)      All the reports should be made with a view to enable your managers to take quick and accurate decision.
2)      Mainly the focus of the management will be in the gist or the executive summary of the plan proposed by the executive.
3) Major aspect which any organization will appreciate in a MIS is trend psychoanalysis of data at right place and right time.
4) If in case there is any deviation from previous data there should be an analysis done over the data.
5) Lastly the Cost benefit analysis report of any organization

Qualifications

·         Any Bachelors degree in computer system or application
·         MBAs are preferred for similar executive positions and other associated degree can add substantial values to one resume.
·         Must be experienced as fresher’s tend to be a devastation like me in the beginning. I really found difficulty in this area as I was not very clear about my KRA in the beginning and due to personal deviation I was failing to get time to look for things which would have helped me. During my appraisals I simply out of curiosity inclined to gather more information over the subject and found there so much to learn and do that I started de-rating myself. Over actual analysis over my career cycle I could see I have managed to reach what was expected out of me but as I know my potential I can do a better job at this.
When my manager viewed my appraisal form he did ask me, why did I lowered my rates, he felt I was de-motivated by something and thought low of myself. Over time and time he has helped me regain my confidence. But this time I had only one answer for him.
TRUST ME:- “I CAN DO BETTER”

Just to bug all seniors who are in this profession for such long I just came around a fact that according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)average income of a MIS executive is $115,150 as of 2008 and they expect to increase employment by 17 percent till 2018.
